JOB SUMMARY
The Accountant will contribute to the fiscal, ethical, and professional stability of the agency by identifying, analyzing, and reporting financial impact, implications, and forecasts for the agency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews and ensures purchases are hitting correct cost centers for accurate grant reporting.
Assists in preparing grant documents for state and federal grants.
Works on special projects as assigned.
Prepares financial reports and analysis as needed.
Serves as a backup for other team members.
Identifies and communicates any suggestions in relation to improving financial controls.
Maintains the general ledger including preparing and posting journal entries and fixed asset ledger.
Performs a variety of complex, responsible and confidential duties requiring a thorough knowledge of the organizations policies and procedures, GAAP as well as other compliance areas.
Performs monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, prepaid and accrual accounts.
Prepares monthly Financial Pivot Table file and drafts a Narrative describing highlights of financial operations.
Assists the CFO, as needed, with reviewing Actual and Budget performance with select members of the Executive Team, on at least a quarterly basis.
Assists the CFO in forecasting short-range and long-range cash requirements and obligations, as a basis for maintaining adequate funds.
Collaborates with external partners to ensure that all grant/financial documents meet regulatory requirements.
Collaborates with internal team members to ensure that program budgets are communicated and updates are tracked and communicated to designated parties to maximize service/billing opportunities.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
At least 1 year of experience in accounting or related experience preferred.
Experience with ERS systems and auditing preferred.
Good working knowledge of accounting principles/records, basic mathematical calculations and general office procedures.
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn ERS software.
Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills in conjunction with strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work with deadlines.
Has shown ability to take initiative and respond quickly and accurately to employment inquiries.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Any other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or Chief Executive Officer.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
