Southwestern Community Action Council is a private non-profit agency whose mission is to facilitate the social and economic well-being of low-income families in Cabell, Lincoln, Mason, and Wayne counties in West Virginia.
We are a leader in the development and provision of a variety of community programs and services provided by qualified, highly trained, client focused staff.
Our programs include Early Head Start / Head Start, the Mason County Homeless Shelter, Weatherization Assistance, Case Management / Homemaker Services, Senior Community Services (Mature Worker), and Veteran Supportive Services.
We currently have openings for Part-Time Center Substitutes for our Head Start program in Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln and Mason counties to join our team and achieve great things together.
_*Qualifications*_
High school diploma or GED; pre-school experience preferred.
A desire to work with young children; strong interest in improving self and community; self-motivated with ability to work without direct supervision; writing skills; valid driver’s license with safe driving record or state ID.
Must pass drug screen and background check.

This is a part-time position.
The Substitute Teacher will work up to 29 hours per week.
We are looking for Substitute Teachers to work in Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln, and Mason counties in West Virginia, however, Subs are not required to work all of the counties.
Employees can determine their area of availability.
* May work as a Substitute Teacher Assistant/Infant Toddler Educator.
* Be able to carry out planned classroom activities in center under the supervision of designated staff.
* Will assist in observing and recording children’s progress in various skills for teacher’s assessment of children’s progress and lesson planning on a daily basis as needed.
* All information will be kept confidential.
Use positive guidance techniques to direct behavior, developing children’s confidence and self-esteem.
* Accept and promote diversity in the classroom.
* May Substitute as a Food Service Worker.
* Hold valid food handler’s permit.
* Prepare meals in accordance with guidelines under the direction of the Registered Dietitian.
* Knowledge of USDA meal patterns.
* Order food and supplies as needed to serve meals according to planned menus.
* Maintain cleanliness of center kitchen, food storage areas, garbage disposal and equipment and adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
