Job Summary:
The Academic Advisor advises students concerning their academic plans and progress, academic schedule, choice of major, and other academic activities and career goals, to assist the student in making decisions concerning personal educational goals leading to graduation.

The academic advisor also promotes the college of health professions at limited recruitment events on/off campus.
Advises students individually and/or with groups regarding academic core and/or departmental requirements, appropriate class selection, academic policies and procedures, and campus resources.
Keeps detailed notes for each advisee and logs notes in EAB Navigate after each advising session.
- Support and partner with each advisee to make informed decisions and develop reasonable and obtainable educational plans and career goals that are consistent with their abilities and interests
- Guide students to enroll in appropriate coursework to meet established academic plans in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in EAB Navigate advising platform and all records stored within the college
- Advise special populations of students within scope of responsibility, such as transfer students, new students, undeclared majors, minority groups, etc.
, assisting in exploration of academic programs, and focusing on academic direction, procedures, policies, and available resources
- Assist advisees in various routine activities as needed (i.
e.
, financial aid processes, career education, student employment, tuition payment, transcript requests, etc.
)
- Meet with incoming freshmen at New Student Orientation and in the first academic year to assist with the transition from high school to college, to review and evaluate progress toward long range goals and plan courses for upcoming semester or summer term, and to discuss grades and other performance indicators as needed
- Communicate with advisees regularly via email, phone, and/or text messages to foster a helping relationship.
- Inform and refer advisees as necessary to other institutional resources when academic, attitudinal, attendance, or other personal problems require intervention by other professionals
- Interpret and provide guidance and rationale for institutional policies
- Recruit advisees to re-enroll after withdrawing, stopping out, or suspension
- Assist students with educational transactions such as course additions and withdrawals, declaring major/minor, changing major, etc
- Plan and execute advising campaigns and communication plans using the EAB Navigate advising platform
- Collaborate with other advisors on campus as necessary to answer student questions and facilitate smooth intercollege transfers
- Participate in university sponsored training and professional development opportunities
- Participate in webinars and other group meeting platforms
- Determine graduation requirements for juniors and seniors
- Verify graduation requirements have been met
- Assist in preparing and submitting both tentative and final graduation lists.
Attend limited on and off campus recruiting events, such as green & white day.

Salary Range $35,568 - $42,850- Salary may be increased based off education, experience, and internal equity.

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in counseling or an academic field directly related to the advisor’s specific responsibilities.
Experience
1 year of progressively responsible experience in advising or related academic functions
