Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties and responsibilities will typically involve highly individualized tasks and skill sets.
Examples in this category include, but are not limited to RA’s, Eagle guides, academic tutors, general services workers, custodial workers, and agricultural services.
This position will generally require one on one contact with internal and external customers.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Other Duties and Responsibilities Helps students with reviewing curricula and class assignments.
Assists with homework, projects, assignments, test preparation, presentations, assist in helping students with how to approach research, etc.
The tutor is not permitted to perform work or complete assignments for the students they tutor.
Assists students with study skills focused on academic performance ranging from note taking in class to preparing for various assignments.
Provides constructive and positive feedback to students they tutor.
Assists with creation of study aids and study guides.
Interacts with faculty and present to classes to promote the Tutoring and Learning Center Serves as an ambassador to help with recruiting other high-caliber peer tutors to work at the Tutoring and Learning Center Works well in a team-environment but also comfortable with assisting students in a one-on-one basis.
Minimum Requirements Must be a current MSU student Must maintain satisfactory academic progress Must feel comfortable using nominal judgment and possess basic analytical or decision-making skills Must have the ability to understand and to follow written and verbal instructions Must be able to operate equipment relevant to the distinctive position Knowledge of the unique requirements of the placement location.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Sophomore status, 30 hours completed Excellent academic ability and communication skills.
At least a 3.
0 cumulative GPA.
Ability to relate to and assist students from diverse educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.
At least an A or B in any tutored courses.
Ability to treat student information with confidentiality.
Ability to work and solve problems independently.
Ability to work with other tutors as a team member.
Interest in tutoring and serving other students.
Excellent computer skills.
Excellent writing skills Physical Requirements Working Conditions Mostly working in an open lab.
Work may involve a lot of varied activities and some interruptions.
Workplace may at times be very busy.
Must be able to deal with a variety of personalities.
