The MHN System Compliance & Privacy Manager will aid with the day-to-day management of an integrated healthcare compliance and privacy program in support of the mission and strategic goals of healthcare system currently comprised of Marshall Health Network, Cabell Huntington Hospital, St.
Mary's Medical Center, Rivers Health and their related organizations and subsidiaries (the “System”) and the System's ACO.
This position is dedicated to assisting the System Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy in serving the needs of a growing healthcare system committed to the health needs of the community.
System Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with day-to-day activities of System Compliance and Privacy Program, including maintenance of policies and procedures that enable consistent and effective compliance and privacy practices throughout the System.
Assists with system-wide effective compliance and privacy training program for all new and current employees.
Assists with maintaining system-wide audit plan which addresses specific compliance areas, including areas set forth in the current OIG work plan, including but not limited to the tracking and monitoring of corporate compliance audit activities from appropriate departments.
Assists the System Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy with monitoring for the consistent application of sanctions for privacy violations.
Works closely with System leaders and affiliated organizations to timely investigate compliance-related concerns reported to the independent Corporate Compliance Hotline and ensures that reporters are free from retaliation.
Assists System privacy and security leaders with investigating privacy concerns.
Provides routine updates on privacy investigations to the System Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy.
Assists with required breach notification processes under HIPAA and applicable State breach rules and requirements.
Reviews with the System Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy in preparation for compliance and privacy program reports to System committees and the Marshall Health Network Board of Directors.
Serves as a member of the System's Compliance and Privacy committees and assists with the duties and responsibilities as assigned by those committees.
Attends meetings concerning compliance and privacy matters across the System and its affiliate organizations, as assigned by the System Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy.
Reports directly to the System Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy, and where appropriate the applicable system leadership, problems, issues, or concerns related in any way to the System Compliance and Privacy Program.
Performs such other appropriate functions as may be assigned from time to time by the System Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy.
Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards.
Works with the System Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy, as well as the System Vice President and General Counsel in addressing compliance and privacy issues that require outside legal advice and assistance, including but not limited to interfacing and negotiating with external regulatory agencies related to compliance and privacy investigations, where appropriate.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in an associated field, with a MA/MBA or legal degree preferred.
Experience
2 years of healthcare compliance and privacy experience preferred.
