Hello, Here is a really cool and scare banjo that I bought from Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, only 421 of these were ever made and specifically only 50 were made in 1967.
It’s a Epiphone EB-88, these produced right beside Gibson Mastertone models.
For a short rundown, when Gibson acquired the Epiphone brand, they needed Banjos for their dealers.
These were produced through most of the 1960s.
I had Arthur Hatfield, fit and finish a Cox 3 ply rim, to its original Faulkner 20 hole flathead ring.
The rim finished to the original color and It has a loose fit to the ring, which makes an excellent sounding banjo.
I have seen two other of these Banjos in the same years and they had certified Faulkner rings and then this one has all the hallmarks of those rings I’m very confident that it is.
I have not had time to take it to Frank Neat and I’m sure he will tell you the same.
Arthur did install a second coordinator rod, which is from a period correct Gibson bowtie banjo, so it is completely ready to go.
It features its original Brazilian fingerboard with really retro parallelogram inlays, spikes by Hatfield at 7 and 9 frets, Huber head and Huber bridge.
It does have an older Prucha Presto tailpiece.
The neck has a really good feel to it and it plays so easy with original jumbo frets, everything else is factory original, and it does include its original rim and tailpiece.
Prewar style L brackets, No repairs , there is a scratch on the small side of the resonator, it is not a crack, as shown in the photos.
Include it is a nice arch top plywood, hard shell case.
Ron Stewart played one of these and has owned two of them, there is a thread on the banjo hangout about the ones he had.
There are videos of him playing his,I do have videos available for sound sample of this banjo and it is very strong and has a sweet tone all over.
Asking $2599 cash in person, possibly even trade for a Martin, Santa Cruz or Collings Guitar or Upright Bass of equal value.
Willing meet in a safe public location in the Eastern Kentucky/Ohio area, serious inquiries please, no shipping ,feel free to ask any questions and thanks for looking
