Job Purpose: The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the retail facility.
This position supervises staff, volunteers, community service workers, etc.
in the absence of the Store Manager by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods in the absence of the Store Manager.
Trains workers in store policies, department procedures, and job duties.
Completes store reports and makes bank deposits as assigned by the Store Manager.
Inspects merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced and displayed.
Assists with stock rotation and inventory
Listens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations.
Processes goods for placement in the store.
Insures security of the store merchandise and facility.
Assists in providing training to clients assigned to the store.
Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the store.
Orients new hires on emergency plans and procedures.
Supervises employees engaged in sales work, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, or preparing daily record of transactions for Accounting Department, or performs work of subordinates, as needed.
Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
Receives and responds to alarm calls – must have personal telephone service.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
