Steel Estimator

Porter Industries is a Steel Fabrication shop located in Franklin Furnace, Ohio in search of a Steel Estimator for 1st shift (4 –10 hour days, 7:00 a.
m.
– 5:30 p.
m.
, Monday through Thursday, occasional overtime).
*Education and Experience:* · High school education or equivalent · Past estimation experience in a structural steel fabrication environment is ideal.
However, would be willing to train an individual with prior experience, knowledge and understanding of the structural steel industry (past experience in structural steel industry with ability to read blueprints/drawings is non-negotiable) *Ideal candidates should possess:* · Knowledge and understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection terminology and practices · Knowledge and understanding of general construction industry terminology and practices · Ability to read and interpret industry documents, including design drawings and specification/bid documentation · Ability to estimate labor hours and material costs to perform scope of work cost effectively without sacrificing quality · Ability to find creative and inventive ways to produce custom, quality products in an efficient manner · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Ability to prepare pricing estimates, including developing a takeoff of all material and labor · Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to efficiently handle multiple projects to meet tight deadlines · Ability to interact with customers and manage expectations with a high degree of professionalism and courtesy · Strong attention to detail · Ability to communicate with outside vendors · Problem solving capabilities and desire to improve processes · Strong desire to maintain safety and quality · Self motivation skills and be a team player · A positive attitude and strong work ethic · Analytical skills and ability to make sound decisions, develop plans and handle challenges · Trouble shooting skills with a solution-focused approach to projects · Strong math skills and the ability to accurately read a tape measure · Ability to work with/learn estimating software · Ability to work with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace *Physical Requirements:* · Ability to safely use and lift equipment weighing 50 pounds (potentially 100 pounds with assistance) · Ability to work while standing or sitting for long periods of time · Ability to bend, stoop, walk and climb · Ability to work in adverse weather or temperature conditions · Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment · Ability to occasionally drive to and evaluate various job sites Job Type: Full-time Benefits: * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Paid time off * Vision insurance Schedule: * 10 hour shift * Day shift Application Question(s): * Can you read blueprints/drawings? * Applicant will be subject to a background check and pre-employment drug testing.
